#no you don’t understand #you can’t understand this this is the worst possible thing #because in this moment Kirk knows #he watches Spock die #he feels how important Spock will become to him #how important he is to Spock #and then Khan happens #and the enterprise is falling # and he remembers the radiation core and he knows #he knows what is going to happen #and he refuses #he can’t let that happen #not to Spock #because Spock is everything #so he goes into the radiation core alone #and later when Spock finds him #Kirk dies with a smile on his face #because it doesn’t matter anymore #because he saved Spock

Wait this is where it confuses me because Spock can’t die if he’s alive in the future so “technically” Kirk knows Spock doesn’t die in the chamber. He’s not seeing Spock die, he’s just seeing how he ended up in the past and how his planet got destroyed. I don’t think he sees Spock going into the radiation core, does he? The reason Kirk goes into the radiation chamber is to save everyone, let alone Spock, but not to prevent Spock from doing it himself. I don’t think Kirk ever knew/saw Spock was going to do it, and that’s where these ones differentiate from the old ones.

I think it was just a creative choice by the writers to have Kirk do it instead of Spock to make the new Khan Spock’s demon, instead of Kirk’s. I don’t think Kirk’s actions were based off what he saw necessarily. HIs feelings towards Spock maybe, but not because “we” know Spock did it the first time (in the old ones). We tried having a really long conversation about this and I’m so confused.
